In class on March 22, we discussed how sports relies on the media much more than the media relies on sports. Without the media, sports would assumably crumble and be nowhere near the juggernaut of a business that it is today. Media has many other forms of entertainment on television such as talk shows, game shows and reality television. If sports were to cease to exist, the media would still be in a good position. However, if media for whatever reason was to stop one day, the sports world would most likely fall to it's knees. Sports are so dependent on the media. The media helps sports teams and organizations sell themselves and it gives them outlets to put their brands out in the open for consumers to see. The media helps sports team gain sponsorships which in turn, generates revenue for the sport team and organization. Without the media, sports would not be what it is today. Consumers want to see sports, and the media allows for those consumers to be able to view games and events all from the comfort of their couches in their home.

This article showcases how the media helps sports. The company, YourMoji, offers users the ability to use emojis for 40 different colleges such as, Notre Dame, Oregon, Indiana and Iowa. Users are able to use these emojis on social media platforms such as, Snapchat, iMessage, Facebook and Twitter. With emojis becoming a huge stable in everyday text messaging, YourMoji has seen this as a huge business opportunity. It is an example of how the media helps out sports. YourMoji is reaching out to the younger demographic, which sports teams and organizations are always desperately trying to connect with. It allows people to connect with sports through a common place which would be texting and social media. Not only do teams gain revenue from YourMoji, they also gain exposure to their programs and teams. I'm sure many professional sports leagues will soon catch onto YourMoji and will want their own stake of the prize. It is a great business opportunity and a great way to connect with consumers.

The following YouTube clip shows how much power the media has on sports:
